Treatment Protocol
- 1
Remove and disassemble the detergent tray, soaking it for several hours (or overnight) in hot water mixed with citric acid or an acidic cleaning product like Sanoks to soften soap scum, limescale, and rust.
- 2
Clean the tray gently using only a toothbrush, avoiding knives or metal scouring pads to prevent scratching the plastic.
- 3
Repeat the soaking process if the tray is heavily soiled, or soak it in a solution of oxygen bleach (like Biomama), sodium percarbonate, or 3% hydrogen peroxide for whitening and disinfection.
- 4
Clean the tray compartment (top, bottom, and walls) by applying an acidic cleaner (vinegar, citric acid, Sanoks, Gloss spray, Frosch, or Zero) as a compress, scrubbing with a stiff sponge or using a steam cleaner, and flushing the holes with a dental irrigator.
- 5
Remove black mold from the compartment using specialized anti-mold products such as Nanofix med, Unicum, Cillit Bang, Grass Bimold, or Septocil, followed by a rinse cycle.
- 6
Drain the filter by placing a towel underneath, unscrewing the external bottom filter, removing all debris and buildup, and washing the filter thoroughly.
- 7
Wipe the door seal (gasket) along its entire circumference, including all crevices and folds, using a cloth dampened with a baking soda solution.
- 8
Clean white limescale or soap buildup from the rubber seal and door using citric acid, vinegar, Sanoks, or a standard faucet cleaner.
- 9
Treat stubborn black mold on the gasket with a biocidal product like igoshi according to the instructions; if the mold persists, consider replacing the gasket entirely.
- 10
Run an empty wash cycle at 60–90°C using a specialized scale, odor, and bacteria removal product such as those from Dr.Beckmann or Splash. TIPS: - The drum self-clean function only cleans the drum itself, not the entire washing machine. - Check your machine's manual or use a smart assistant to locate the specific self-clean button for your model. - You can wash the detergent tray in a dishwasher for regular maintenance.
