Important! Soap bubble stains are generally considered impossible to remove after being machine washed. These stains are invisible until washed; the glycerin in the soap bubbles reacts with the alkali in laundry detergents during the wash cycle to create permanent, ink-like spots. While there is no 100% guarantee, the following methods are worth attempting.
- 2Home Remedy
Rinse the affected clothing under hot running water or run a quick wash cycle without any detergent to flush out the glycerin if you know contact has occurred.
- 3Home Remedy30 minutes
Soak the item in warm water with 2 tablespoons of clear Fairy (or another dish soap) for 30 minutes.
- 4Home Remedy
Wash the garment in the machine as usual with your regular detergent.
- 5Home Remedy
Mix 1/2 cup of dry laundry powder (or grated laundry soap) and 2 tablespoons of oxygen bleach powder (such as Biomama) or sodium percarbonate in a container.
- 6Home Remedy
Dissolve the dry ingredients in 5 liters of boiling water.
- 7Home Remedy
Add 3 tablespoons of odorless vegetable oil to the solution.
- 8Home Remedy15–30 minutes
Boil the garment in this mixture over low heat for 15–30 minutes, stirring periodically.
- 9Home Remedy
Turn off the heat, stir again, and leave the item to soak in the solution until it cools completely (ideally overnight).
- 10Home Remedy
Wash the garment in the machine as usual using a detergent with enzymes at a temperature of 50°C or higher to remove the oil residue.
- 11Pro Tip
- Separate colored and white items before boiling. - If this method does not work, there are unfortunately no other ways to remove set-in soap bubble stains.
